Before You Continue
Please read this document carefully before using the CaloCalc application. By creating an account or using any feature of the app, you confirm that you have read, understood, and fully agreed to the terms described herein.
Section 01
General Information and Scope
This Privacy Policy governs the handling of personal information and the use of services offered by the CaloCalc mobile application (hereinafter, "the App"), available on iOS devices.
CaloCalc is an informational support tool designed to help users log and track their caloric intake and body weight. The App does not constitute a medical, nutritional, clinical, or healthcare service of any kind.
The App is developed and maintained by Clarity (hereinafter, "the Studio" or "Clarity"). Any reference to "Clarity," "the Studio," "we," "our team," or "the developer" in this document refers to said entity and to the individuals involved in the development and maintenance of Calo Calc.
Section 02
Personal Data We Collect
To provide its features, CaloCalc collects and processes the following types of information:
2.1 Account information
- Name and email address provided when creating a user account.
- Password (stored in encrypted form; Clarity never has access to your password in plain text).
2.2 Health and wellness information
- Daily calorie goal set by the user.
- Estimated calorie records for each food item or dish entered.
- Body weight records entered manually by the user.
- Daily caloric intake history with up to 12 months of retention.
2.3 Multimedia content and text
- Photos of dishes captured with the camera or selected from the device's photo library.
- Food descriptions entered by text or via voice transcription.
- Images and voice descriptions are transmitted to external AI services solely to process the caloric analysis and are not permanently stored on our servers.
2.4 Technical data
- Device identifiers and operating system version, used solely for error diagnostics.
- In-app activity logs for service improvement purposes.
2.5 Language and localization
- App language (English or Spanish) and device's language settings.
- Used to personalize AI responses and future account-related communications; not used for advertising.
Section 03
Use of Artificial Intelligence
CaloCalc uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) models provided by Google (Gemini AI) to analyze food images, text descriptions, and voice transcriptions, with the goal of estimating the caloric content of dishes.
Important Warning
Caloric estimates generated by AI are algorithmic approximations and may differ significantly from actual nutritional values. The accuracy of the analysis depends on multiple external factors that the AI cannot control, including:
- The angle, lighting, and quality of the photo provided.
- Ingredients or preparation methods not visible in the image or not described by the user.
- Variations in actual portion sizes.
- Regional differences in recipes and the nutritional composition of foods.
- Inherent limitations of AI models in recognizing specific dishes.
- Updates or changes to Google's AI models that may affect results.
The user acknowledges and accepts that values displayed by CaloCalc are estimates of a purely informational nature and must not be used as the basis for medical, nutritional, or health-related decisions.
Section 04
Disclaimer — Artificial Intelligence and Health
Critical Statement
This section is fundamental to the use of the App. By continuing to use CaloCalc, the user declares having fully read and accepted the contents of this section.
CaloCalc is not a medical or clinical tool. The information presented in the App, including calorie estimates, weight charts, and any other data, is intended exclusively for informational and personal tracking purposes.
The user expressly understands and agrees that:
- Results generated by AI are estimates subject to error and do not replace the judgment of a qualified healthcare or nutrition professional.
- Personal calorie goals should be established based on the guidance of a certified nutritionist or physician; Clarity does not offer or validate such information.
- Any dietary, weight-loss, weight-gain, or general health decisions the user makes based on CaloCalc's information are the user's sole responsibility.
- CaloCalc does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or suitability of caloric estimates for any specific purpose.
- Use of the App does not substitute professional medical consultation for any health condition, eating disorder, or particular clinical situation.
Section 05
Data Storage and Security
User data is stored on Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database platform with high security standards. Access to information is protected through individual authentication; only the account holder can access their own data.
We implement the following security measures:
- Encryption of data in transit via TLS/HTTPS.
- Encryption of data at rest provided by Google Cloud.
- Mandatory personal account authentication before accessing any data.
- Firestore security rules that prevent unauthorized access between users.
Nevertheless, no digital storage system is entirely infallible. Clarity cannot provide an absolute guarantee of security against sophisticated external attacks, third-party infrastructure failures, or events beyond our control.
AI Analysis Reports
Reports generated by the AI analysis feature are not stored on any external server. The App does not upload them to iCloud or any other cloud service; they remain solely on your Apple device (iPhone or iPad). You may export the report as a PDF and share it at your own discretion.
Section 06
Data Retention
Clarity retains the user's calorie and weight history for a period of up to 12 months from the date each entry is recorded. Data older than 12 months may be automatically deleted from the system.
Upon account deletion, all information associated with the user will be permanently erased from our servers within a maximum of 30 calendar days.
Section 07
User Rights
The user has the right to:
- Access: View personal data stored in CaloCalc at any time through the App.
- Rectification: Modify or correct inaccurate or outdated information.
- Deletion: Request the complete removal of their account and associated data.
- Portability: Request a copy of their data in a readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent: Stop using the App and request deletion of their data at any time.
Section 08
Third-Party Services

- Google Gemini AI — Image and text processing for caloric estimation. Requests are sent to Google's servers in accordance with their terms of service.
- Google Cloud Firestore — Storage of user data on Google's cloud infrastructure.
- Firebase Authentication — Account management and user authentication.
- Third-party subscription and in-app purchase management provider — CaloCalc uses a third-party platform to manage in-app purchases, subscriptions, and the validation of transactions processed through the Apple App Store. This provider may collect certain device identifiers, purchase history, and usage data solely for the purpose of processing and managing your subscription status. This information is handled in accordance with the provider's own privacy policy and is never used for advertising purposes.
Clarity, as the development studio behind CaloCalc, does not sell, rent, or share users' personal information with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. Data shared with third-party service providers is limited strictly to what is necessary for the operation of their respective functions within the App.
Section 08 — A
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
CaloCalc may offer optional in-app purchases or subscription plans that unlock additional features. All payment transactions are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store infrastructure. CaloCalc and Clarity do not directly collect, store, or process any payment card or financial information.
Subscription management is handled by a third-party provider that communicates with Apple's systems to verify and maintain the status of your subscription. The following information may be accessed or processed by this provider:
- Anonymous or pseudonymous device identifiers used to associate a subscription with a device or account.
- Purchase and transaction history related to in-app purchases within CaloCalc.
- App usage data such as session information, used to support subscription analytics and diagnostics.
- Country or region, for pricing and eligibility purposes.
This data is used solely to manage subscription entitlements and is not shared with additional third parties, sold, or used for advertising or profiling purposes.
You may manage, modify, or cancel your subscription at any time directly through your Apple ID account settings on your device. Cancellation and refund policies are governed by Apple's App Store terms.
Section 09
Minors
CaloCalc is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you become aware that a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can proceed with the immediate deletion of their data.

Clarity reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. When substantial changes are made, users will be notified through the App or via email at least 15 days in advance. Continued use of the App following such notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Section 11
Full Disclaimer of Liability

- CaloCalc, the Clarity Studio, and any member of the Clarity team are expressly released from all liability — civil, legal, or of any other nature — arising from the use of or results obtained through the App.
- Caloric and nutritional composition estimates generated by Artificial Intelligence are algorithmic approximations that are imprecise by nature, and the user explicitly accepts the differences, errors, or omissions that may exist between the values displayed and actual real-world values.
- The user assumes full and sole responsibility for any decision made based on information provided by CaloCalc, including changes to their diet, exercise routines, or any action related to their health and well-being.
- CaloCalc, the Clarity Studio, and its team shall not be liable under any circumstances for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages that may arise from the use of the App, including without limitation: data loss, health damages, financial losses, or any other type of harm.
- The App is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors.
- In jurisdictions where a full exclusion of liability is not permitted, liability shall be limited to the maximum extent allowed by applicable law.

- I have read and fully accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use of CaloCalc, developed by the Clarity Studio.
